Le Fonds monétaire international (FMI) s’apprête à débloquer plusieurs centaines de millions de dollars pour le Sénégal lors de la prochaine réunion de son conseil d’administration, prévue dans la deuxième quinzaine de juillet.
Le ministre des Finances et du Budget, Cheikh Diba, suit de près ces discussions avec le FMI. Selon les informations de ConfidentialDakar, le Sénégal devrait sans problème obtenir les crédits demandés, les projections économiques étant jugées satisfaisantes par le Fonds.
Lors de sa dernière mission à Dakar, l’équipe du FMI a salué l’engagement des nouvelles autorités sénégalaises en faveur des programmes existants soutenus par l’institution. Le gouvernement reste déterminé à mettre en œuvre des politiques visant à réduire les vulnérabilités de la dette publique, à assainir les finances publiques, à renforcer la gouvernance, à promouvoir une croissance plus inclusive et créatrice d’emplois, ainsi qu’à renforcer la résilience face au changement climatique.
Le FMI note également que la tenue pacifique de l’élection présidentielle de mars a contribué à améliorer les perspectives économiques du pays. La croissance économique devrait ainsi atteindre 7,1 % en 2024 et 10,1 % en 2025, tandis que l’inflation devrait revenir dans la fourchette cible de la Banque centrale des États d’Afrique de l’Ouest (BCEAO) d’ici la fin de l’année 2025. Le déficit élevé du compte courant devrait également se réduire en 2024-2025, grâce notamment au démarrage de la production d’hydrocarbures et aux efforts d’assainissement budgétaire.
