Quelque 46 Sénégalais, dont 2 femmes et 44 hommes, font partie des 160 candidats à la migration irrégulière secourus par la Marine royale marocaine au large de Dakhla, après le chavirement de leur pirogue.
Selon des sources diplomatiques, le navire aurait quitté la Gambie le 2 juillet dernier avec près de 200 passagers à bord, dans le but de rallier les Îles Canaries. “Ils [les 46 Sénégalais rescapés] sont logés au centre d’accueil d’Argoub situé à 90 kilomètres au sud de la ville de Dakhla. Parmi eux, on dénombre une dizaine de malades et blessés pris en charge par les autorités sanitaires”, a indiqué le consulat général du Sénégal à Dakhla.
Le consulat général a assuré qu’il travaille à leur rapatriement dans les meilleurs délais. Il convient de noter qu’aucune pirogue en provenance du Sénégal n’est arrivée au Maroc depuis le 14 juin 2024.
Par ailleurs, 53 autres Sénégalais candidats à l’émigration irrégulière, qui attendaient leur rapatriement à Dakhla depuis le 14 juin, ont organisé mardi une manifestation violente au centre d’accueil d’Argoub. “Le Consul général s’est rendu immédiatement sur place pour rencontrer les jeunes et aider à l’apaisement de la situation, qui est revenue à la normale”, a précisé la source diplomatique.
